I started cruecollector.com in September of 2017 primarily as a website to share my Motley Crue collection. At the same time I also started a Facebook group to go along with the website. Motley Crue fans from all over the world started sharing their awesome collections and stories and it didn't take long for me to shift the focus of the group. I was a lot more interested in checking out all these other fan's collections, more so than just posting pictures of my own. We now have 8000+ group members including some alumni from the inner circle of Motley Crue's past and present.
With so many posts coming in everyday some of the really cool ones were getting lost in the feed. New members would never get to see them. So I decided to reformat my website to act as an archive to feature some of the group members collections, VIP stories, and cool topics of discussion. Some of this stuff would be hard, to impossible to find elsewhere. My Goal was to create the Ultimate Motley Crue Fan and collector site. One that would be interesting to look at, and keep fans coming back to.
I've followed Motley Crue since 1983-84. I've seen them live every chance I've had from 1985 to The Final Tour in 2015, and picked up all of their albums close to their release dates in Canada. I have what I thought was an impressive Motley Crue collection, that is, until I started my website and Facebook group cruecollector.com in 2017. Crue-Heads from around the world started sharing their amazing collections and stories and absolutely blew me away! It has been great fun seeing all the items from other countries, and It is clear to say that Motley Crue fans and collectors are passionate about this band.
The music itself has always been number one for me. My favorite items to collect are Vinyl records, CDs, and of course my obsession with Motley Crue bootlegs. My first bootleg was an audio cassette tape from the concert in Winnipeg, Canada 1985. I got it not long after the show. It was an audience recording, so terrible that you could barely make out what song they were playing. I thought it was the absolute coolest thing I ever heard! This was a live recording of Motley Crue that not many other people had. I had to have more of this. I since have found a really great recording of this show (still my favorite), and have a large collection of Motley Crue audio bootlegs spanning their entire touring history to date.
Personally, I'm glad the final chapter of Motley Crue has not yet been written, and I look forward to seeing what new directions Nikki, Vince, Tommy, and Mick take us. They truly are...insert Paul Miles Australian accent here...The world's most notorious rock band.
